TRADELING SELLER LANDING PAGE
OBJECTIVE
Sellers play an important role in the e-commerce business. In order to boost the supply, the company needs to onboard both domestic and international sellers and bring their offerings to the platform. In this project, the objective was to convince sellers to register to the platform by designing an informative, well structured, simple and catchy Become a Seller landing page.
CHALLENGES
It was my first project which I led in the company. In the beginning of the project, cross-function engagement was challenging with the stakeholders. However I overcame this by organizing a design workshop which led them to share their inputs and collaborate in a fun way. Another challenging part was working with the tech team for the first time. It required multiple design reviews with developers until we reached the final design. However the quality of the development increased in my other projects as I built better connections with the tech team.
PROCESS OVERVIEW
I followed the standard product design processes to achieve the final page design. Firstly I received the brief and the problem statement from my product manager. Secondly, I organized multiple kick off meetings with each stakeholder to gather their requirements related to this page. When the brief and the business expectation was clear, I did a benchmarking by comparing other leading B2B e-commerce platforms. As a result of the detailed benchmarking analysis, I came up with the suggested information architecture of the page. However, since I didn’t want to create the page structure purely based on benchmarking, I decided to organize a workshop to gather different stakeholders (marketing, logistics, product information management and customer service teams) to collect their ideas based on their day to day interactions with the sellers. As a result I came up with the ideal content structure and detailed wireframes which I validated with the stakeholders. After the page layout was approved I worked with the marketing team, copywriter and graphic designer to create its content. I led the content creation by working directly with the copywriter and the graphic designer to create the banner visuals. Finally when the page design and the content were ready, I worked with the tech team to develop the page. This process was a little bit challenging due to the fact that the developer was not following the design. I solved this problem by sitting with him a couple of times to review his work until reaching the final design.
SUGGESTION
Design a Become s Seller page catering to both international and domestic sellers. Display all the seller related information and benefits in 1 page to convince them to register to the platform.
THE TEAM
The team consisted of me as the senior product designer and the product manager Ugyen who later changed to Kamini. I led the whole project and worked on all the phases: stakeholder management, benchmarking, workshop facilitation, UX/UI design, content creation with the copywriter and graphic designer and guiding developers in the tech team.
